The Best Christmas Present in the World Concert | Exeter Cathedral

A unique Christmas concert performed by candlelight, Michael Morpurgo’s story The Best Christmas Present in the World is told together with specially selected Christmas carols.

The Best Christmas Present in the World revisits the trenches and tells the haunting story of Christmas 1914 when soldiers on both sides put down their weapons in honour of Christmas Day.

A heartwarming story of humanity and courage, this vivid and emotive war story is thoughtfully interspersed with traditional songs of Christmas including While Shepherds Watched, Good King Wenceslas and The Boar’s Head Carol.

Narrated by Michael Morpurgo and Virginia McKenna, with songs performed by award-winning a capella group Voices at the Door.  Directed by Simon Reade.

A truly inspiring and atmospheric celebration of Christmas.

The concert lasts 1 hour and 15 minutes with no interval.  For children and adults of all ages.
