Michael Morpurgo in conversation with Judith Kerr at Hay Festival

At Hay, Michael began the event by introducing Judith and asking the audience to sing Happy Birthday to her as she will be turning 90 this year.

He asked Judith about her early life and they discussed her escape from Germany before reading from When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit. They discussed Judith Kerr’s new retrospective called ‘Creatures’ before touching on Judith’s personal life and the importance of her husband Tom.

Judith read from Mog The Forgetful Cat and talked about her own cats before Michael and Judith read The Tiger Who Came to Tea together.
