Michael Morpurgo attended London Book Fair on March 16th as the Author of the Day. London Book Fair is one of the biggest publishing events of the year, however, this year was extra special as we were delighted to unveil Michael’s new children’s book, ‘Toto: The Dog-Gone Amazing Story of the Wizard of Oz’, beautifully illustrated by the sensational Emma Chichester Clark.
Publication will coincide with the opening of Michael Morpurgo: A Lifetime in Stories, a free exhibition at the V & A Museum of Childhood which celebrates Michael’s life and writing. ‘Toto: The Dog-Gone Amazing Story of the Wizard of Oz’ is available to pre-order in hardback today
The announcement of Michael’s new book took place on a yellow brick road, accompanied by a little Toto in tow. What better way to announce a story full of fun and adventure.
The Story
Toto is a charming retelling of The Wizard Oz, told through the eyes of Toto the dog, whose wit and charm suffuse the book.
“Dorothy we know and love, but her dog Toto does little more than accompany her on her adventures, providing her with comfort and company, but we never know what he thinks of all that is going on – he just gets carried around a lot. Why not tell the story again, but through Toto’s eyes!” – Michael Morpurgo
This stunning, collectible children’s book deserves a space on every child’s bookshelf, and is available to pre-order now
