Discover how Rae Smith’s designs for the internationally-acclaimed production of War Horse were originally created and watch as she brings her illustrations to life, in an on-stage demonstration of work from her new illustrated hard cover edition of War Horse.

Award-winning author Michael Morpurgo joins Rae on stage, reading extracts from his beloved novel and sharing personal insights into the extraordinary journey from page to stage, from early National Theatre workshops through to international acclaim.

Michael will also read from his heart-warming short story, The Best Christmas Present in The World, accompanied by BAFTA award-winning actress Virginia McKenna and the incomparable a capella group Voices at the Door, singing Christmas Carols from Britain, France and Flanders.

Almost a century after the Christmas Truce of 1914, a letter is found by chance in an antique desk, bringing one soldier’s experience hauntingly to life.
