A gripping retelling of a children’s classic story for the new generation.

With breath-taking illustrations by the celebrated Emma Chichester Clark, this edition of Hansel and Gretel will grip the imagination of a whole new generation of children.

Reviews

“Draws on the idea of hope and courage within the story, making it much more than a simple fairy tale.” A Patchwork of Books blog “Adds interesting twists. Don’t be fooled by the sparkly gingerbread house on the cover. This version is plenty scary.” The News Tribune

I thought it was a captivating book that deserves more praise, Its a book that more promoted towards younger readers, Its the type of book that children can read and get into easily, whats not to love about hearing about witches and even a ginger bread house, Its the type of book that would hold a childs attention or even a book you can read to kids at bedtime. =)

I bought this book for my daughter and loved that the story had been fleshed out. When I was a child I was always scared by how the mother and father seemed like very shadowy characters and we had no explanation as to how they could suddenly become "nice" at the end, but Morpurgo allows us to explore them more fully allowing any child reading to deal with some of the more frightening aspects of the story. Excellent and a hit at home.
